When you are at work, there are things that you are going to have to deal with in order to get where you want to go in your career. If it was easy, everyone would be picking a career and going as far as they could to make sure that they could just make the most money, and nobody would have to work. The first obstacle that you need to be able to overcome is the obstacle of people being in your way. Work is a very cutthroat place to be, and you are going to have to deal with a lot of people who want what you want. You have to be able to not take things personal, and you have to be able to realize that people who are calling you out aren't going to get where you are, and most aren't even right in their analysis of your so-called shortcomings.
The next obstacle that you need to overcome is the one that you are going to put in your own way. The mental obstacle that we all place in our way, and the one that says that we cannot do what we want to do. We might hear a critique that we aren't too fond of, and it might get us thinking that we might not be good enough. We have to be able to get past that, and realize that we are still employed because we are good enough.
Another big obstacle is the technical obstacle. Can we do what we need to do in order to get the job done. Sometimes you come into work and there is a new system that is in place, or a new platform that you have to be trained in. It might even fall on you to run the training course which might be something that you aren't good at. Speaking in front of people is a skill that we all need, but it can scare almost anyone.
