Chemicals - Pesticides - Attitudes
Following our recent article on “Abeilles en danger” (Bees in danger) in our web site (Quai Délices), we continue to strongly condemn the abusive use of pesticides and chemicals and we wish to attract the attention of all those who can help in reining in the zealous and mindless use of chemical insecticides, pesticides & fertilizers by large numbers of private users for their gardens and yards. Indeed the more dangerous products including products such as “Roundup” are used by numerous small gardeners in our sophisticated world with absolutely no overall control thus creating a real hazard and danger to our environment and health, to which we can add the use of such products by professional farmers. Having said so not only do farmers and distributors use far too many chemical pesticides, but they also add conserving chemicals, e.g. to vineyards, fruit trees; on fruit such as strawberries and apples. The result of which is the long term total destruction of our natural world: including insects, bees, amphibians, animals, birds, wild plants, the soil and water.
Biodiversity and the balance of Nature is taking a massive toll.
Moreover we also condemn the continual bullying and abuse of large multinational groups of the indigenous populations of the developing world. I have recently spent a number of hours reading the interesting book of Marie Monique Robin on “The World of Monsanto” in which I was dumbfounded to find out about the activities in the Developing world of the famous Monsanto group’s activities in Africa. The activities include the “Buying up” of the current men in power (politicians and soldiers mainly) of these countries. The conscious money-grabbing collusion between these governments and the large multinational industrial groups to thus forcibly tie in and sell their poisons to the tightly knit network of local small holders and their extended families.
