1.1. Objectifs de l’économie industrielle 






L’économie industrielle développe une approche réaliste et détaillée du fonctionnement des entreprises et des marchés ainsi que leurs interactions, complétant ainsi un cours de microéconomie de base où seuls les marchés idéaux sont étudiés.
L’analyse d’un marché (p. ex. le marché des téléphones portables, le marché des transports aériens, le marché des produits cosmétiques,…) requiert sa définition ainsi que sa caractérisation.
Objectif principal des travaux en économie industrielle : fournir ces définition et caractérisation.
Caractérisation en ayant recours au schéma classique « Structure – Comportement – Performance ».
