Einstein
We're going to talk about Albert Einstein, a very clever man. We've divided our presentation into 2 parts :First, we'll focus on his life. And then, we'll deal with his achievements.
So, let's start with his life !
Born on 14 March 1879 in Ulm, Germany, the young Einstein was dissatisfied with the restrictive schools in Germany. At the age of 16 he moved to Switzerland (Suisse) and graduated from the Federal Institute of Technology. In 1902, he became a clerk(commis) at the Swiss Patent Office(Office des brevets suisse), where he worked on new inventions. The devastation of World War I turned him into an active pacifist (pacifiste). While visiting America in 1933, the Nazi party came to power in Germany and Einstein renounced his German citizenship (citoyenneté) for the second time. He chose to stay in America, accepting a position at Princeton University. During World War II, Einstein knew the Germans were working on the atomic bomb. He informed President Roosevelt of the dangers of the bomb under Nazi control. Einstein spent the rest of his life working for peace and died on 18 April1955, in Princeton.
Now, let's move on to his famous achievements !
You have to know that Albert Einstein is the greatest physicist of the twentieth century. His intelligence quotient was estimated to be between 160 and 180.
In 1922, he won the Nobel Prize for Physics. He published his famous theory of relativity in 1905, and a theory of gravity called ‘general relativity’ in 1915.
In 1908, with Paul Habicht, he developed a volt meter capable of measuring voltages.
He created the Refrigerator. With his former student and friend Leo Szilard, he created several( plusieurs)types of refrigerators. And finally he fabricated the hearing aid.
