In our modern society where virtual relations are more present than real contacts, these figures prove that today in all around the world, almost everybody can be tied by internet andin particulary today by social networks. Its are ingrained in the life of a bulk of millions people who can not live without.
Thus “social networks” it is the subject of our essay, because we can’t oubsure this phenomenon who can represent the globalisation in the world.
That’s why, first of all, we’re going to present social networks in general and their impact today in the world.
Thenwe will speak about the phenomnon of facebook who is the leader of social networks.
And finally, we will analyse risks of social networks for the users.
Part 1 : General presentation of social network
Definition and functioning of a social network A social network consists in website having objectives to widen it circle of friends, to streangthen the family ties, or again todevelop its professionals relations (for example by Facebook or Myspace). Also, the sociale network can be organized around the business relations (LinkedIn or de Viadeo), around events, causes, interests (Oliceo or Néthique), around culture (Flixster)... And sometimes some social networks combines several intentions (PointsCommun). The latest social networkings are more concentrated on specificsubject such as art, automobile, game (poker...), dog owner or again plastic surgery.
The majority of these websites are publics.
The story of the social networks The first social network was born in 1995, and it was “classmate.com”.But we can say that these websiteS are really born in USA in 2003 with the launching of the website Friendster, then few months later, the most famous MySpace.So, since MySpace, the phenomenon have exploded and today all around the world tens of millions of people are using network to communicate, in particularly in USA, Brazil, Japan and China.
The social networking considers that on internet like in the real life, we can not do anything alone: “to exist, we must form a part of something, we not exist like a person but like a potential ofsociability, lika a connection.” Said Stéphane Hugon, sociologist.
Until the sixties or seventies, the societal tendency was the emancipation, but since the twenty-first century human being regain the taste of the primal relation and attempt by anything means to be a member of a group. So that is the secret of the popularity and of the longevity of the social networking. And therefore we can count todaymore than two hundred website of this type, (Myspace, facebook, classmates, Friendster…)
Several type of networks With the success of all these websites, today we can count many sort of networks whose allow to put in touch all people in the world.
{text:list-item} In a fisrt time we can say that today firms works in relation with persons who live in all around the world andnot only in one country. So, we can find professional networks and for the most of theses websites they work with an open system for favour professional meeting or business relations, they permit to develop partnership, to find investors, to know the professional and identify them... Firm can put online their job offers and if a person is interrested she can publish it CV. Therefore the firm canfind the best profile, she can develop its communication, and in the same time, candidate can optimize their luck for find a good job.
Today, more and more agency or big business establish strategic partnership with websites of professional meeting like the partnership of “linkedin” with l’APEC or THALYS with “videao”.
