Un S à la 3e personne.
Auxiliaire + Not :
I, You, We, they Do not
He, She, It Does not

* PRESENT BE-ING
Sujet + V au présent + BV-ING
Exemple : I’m reading a book. He isn’t reading a book. Do you reading a book?

* PRETERIT
V+ED ou V irrégulier.
Auxiliaire : Did (Didn’t)
AGO : How long ago (pdt combien de temps) 5 years ago, 1 month ago…
FOR : Pendant combien de temps c’est passé l’action.
Exemple : He lived for 75 years.

* LE PRETERIT BE+ING
Sujet + V au prétérit + BV-ING
Exemple : I was listening to the radio. I wasn’t listening. Was she chatting with her neighbour?
C’est un temps qui sert à expliquer, justifier, un fait qui s’est déroulé dans le passé.

* LE PRESENT PERFECT
Sujet + V avoir au présent + BV au prétérit.
Exemple : I have opened the door. He hasn’t seen a monster. Has she posted my letter?
Le present Perfect est un lien entre le passé et le présent. Il permet à l’énonciateur de dire, de constater maintenant quelque chose sur une action produite dans le passé.

Will : Futur, certain à 99%
Preterit de Will : Would.
Can : Capacité, peut.
Must : Obligation, probabilité, à 80%
Could : Pourrait (preterit de Can), à 65%
May : Il se peut que, à 50%
Might : Il se pourrait que (preterit de May), à 25%
Should : Devrait. Il exprime un conseil. Should I stay or should I go? You shouldn’t smoking. You should stop smoking.
Preterit de Should : Shall.
