Hi, my name is Belinda Cogswell and I’m the regional sales manager for a design furniture company.

As well as sellingfurniture, we do a lot of project management that includes everything from getting an order for furniture, through to making sure that the furniture is delivered, installed andfollowing up with extra service after.

It's my responsibility to make sure that everything goes well with our sales and projects, and that our work reflects the brand and thevalues of this company. I make sure that things are working and help the team overcome any problems; so it is very much a guiding and managing role.

I also spend time doingsales and promotional work, and investigating what is happening in the market. So it is also a practical role, managing the sales in my region.

Understanding our clients'requirements is a huge part of our work. We have a large number of questions that we go through with them, to help us discover what their requirements are.

It is helpful to have amanagement style that includes everyone in the team, and to know how to get the best out of people. It is also important to have a competitive spirit and a hunger for success.You have to be inquisitive and find out what is going on in your market and region.

We have to achieve results, and meet sales figures. We have to be able to identifyopportunities, develop a relationship with a customer, and keep this relationship going. The furniture we install for customers is vital to this; if it looks good, and lasts a longtime we will get continued business. I get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing people grow and develop in the team. When they have successes it is really rewarding for me as well.
