According to Lynn Beck and Joseph Murphy (1994), it was only at the end of the last century that ethical issues were fully considered in the preparation of school programs. It is true that applying ethics to in the day to day running of School organizations might cause some dilemmas to School leaders and managers alike. But this should not be a reason to discard ethics for the sake of achieving only academic outcome, often, at any cost. As William Greenfield, referring to school Principals (1991) would put it: “it often is not clear what is right or wrong, or what one ought to do, or which perspective is right in moral terms.” There is what we may term a moral conflict. Therefore there is a necessity for School administrators to get proper training in order to deal with eventual conflicts.
Ethical responsibilities of the leaders:
School should be understood to be moral institutions with not only the taught and hidden curriculum aiming at educating the student in becoming both a learned and responsible (moral) citizen, but rather anything and everything that teaches a lesson, planned or otherwise. Humans are born learning, thus the learned curriculum actually encompasses a combination of all of the below -- the hidden, null, written, political and societal etc. Since students learn all the time through exposure and modeled behaviors, this means that they learn important social and emotional lessons from everyone who inhabits a school -- from the caretakers staff, the secretary, the cafeteria workers, their peers, as well as from the, conduct and attitudes expressed and modeled by their teachers. Many educators are unaware of the strong lessons imparted to youth by these everyday contacts. Here of course it incumbent on the head of such schools to infuse to his personnel such qualities with the ultimate objective of imprinting his whole staff with ethical qualities. Refusing to indulge in the usage of vulgar and even slang language would definitely refer to the
