The United Kingdom is unitary state. It is made up of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
According to history and according to what it is now, it is interesting to wonder whether the UK is really united...

Even though United Kingdom includes England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, there are also three Crown Dependencies and fourteen overseas territories that are not constitutionally part of the UK.
On 1 May 1707, the United Kingdom of Great Britain was created by the political union of the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland.This event was the result of the Treaty of Union that was agreed on 22 July 1706, and then ratified by both the Parliament of England and Parliament of Scotland. The kingdoms of England and Scotland, together with the kingdom of Ireland, had already been in a personal union as a result of the Union of the Crowns in 1603.
Throughout history, we notice that even though the United Kingdom is meant to be United , first of all, Ireland always faced religious conflicts which are still now... Indeed, Northern Ireland is part of the UK whereas the Republic of Ireland is not and is independant.
Secondly, each country whithin the UK has its own culture. However, the official language remains English. The only difference is the accent. English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish don't have the same accent at all, even though they speak the same language. And the currency is the same everywhere, the British Pound (apart from the Republic of Ireland which is the Euro).

There aren't any conflicts within the UK between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. However as in France, each country is proud of its own culture and its own accent so sometimes we can feel the jealousy between the different citizens.
Ireland is the only country which fought against United Kingdom. That's the reason why, even nowadays, Ireland is split into two countries: Northern Ireland (part of the UK) and the Republic of
