The notion of dreamtime is typical of the Aborigine culture. It is completely different from the western notion of dreaming. Actually, the dreamtime is a period of time dating back to the creation of the world, and according to the Aborigines this is when their ancestors created every single thing that exists.
This kind of history is transmitted generation after generation through arts , paintings, storytelling, music etc. It is not something that belongs to one family or one individual but rather to a nation. This is what ties/bonds them together and gives them a sense of belonging.
The aboriginal notion of dreaming/dreamtime refers to the beginnings of Life and creation ; and represents the whole creation as an interconnected entity. There’s a kind of communion between all living things , including Man.
As per the aborigine teaches, the white settlers corrupted/ruined this ancestral tradition by bringing about drinks, education etc.… Without any consideration or respect for the local people and culture. He adds that his ancestors asked them to take care of the world and keep it as they left it.
