WORKPLACEMENT REPORT

Introduction

I have just completed a technical course in audiovisual arts and techniques in Marseille specializing in sound. I had two work placements, the first one was in a local radio based in Paris and it lasted six weeks, the second one was in a little company based in providing services like installing and renting sound equipments and the same thing in the lighting field, it lasted two weeks. I'm going to talk about the second one, the small-sized association called wich is a family-owned business.

I spent the whole period with Julien who was my supervisor, he grew up with this company and even if he's young he got a lot of experience in the lighting field and he has too some knowledge in the sound field to share with me. belongs to who is the manager of the company, and also the father of . This company is very successful since it is the only one in to propose those kind of services with such a low price: they rent audio equipments like professional microphone (with dynamic technology for live performance: shure SM-58, & static technology for studio recording) and a wide range of audio speakers; starting to 30 watts for little configuration to 500 watts RMS for large sound systems. They also propose the same thing for the lights equipments, and for all of those services they are able to do the installation for the customers in order to propose a ready-to-use configuration. They don't make differences if they're working with societies or private persons, they adapt the equipments depending on the budget. The number of employees is straightly linked to the activity of the association, sometimes we had to deal with two or three stages at the same time that's why it was a team-work affair. During summertime, the number of employees can reach ten, whereas in winter they're most often three.
