2 – Il s’agit de la fête d’anniversaire où Fanshawe et moi étions invités. (Première ou deuxième année primaire ?)
Un incident est particulièrement important pour moi, il concerne la fête d’anniversaire de Fanshawe, et je suis invité en premier ou second degré.
3 - It was a Saturday afternoon in spring, and we walked to the party with another boy, a friend of ours named Dennis Walden.
Denis had a much harder life than either of us did : an alcoholic mother, an overworked father, innumerable brothers and sisters.
3 - C’était un Samedi après-midi au printemps, et nous nous sommes dirigé vers Denis qui passe une vie très dure que nous tous : mère alcoolique, un père qui ne travaille pas (chômeur), et d’innombrable frères et sœurs.

4 - I had been to his house two or three times - a great dark ruin of a place - and I can remembert being frightened by his mother, who made me think of a fary tale witch. She would spend the whole day behind the closed door of her room, always in her bathrobe, her pale face a nightmare of wrinkles, poking her head out every now and then to scream something at the children.
