Vocabulary List week 6: Words you should know A) Hair related
1 Bun= hair gathered into a round knot at the nape of the neck or on top of the head in certain coiffures. (un chignon)
2 Braids= to weave together strips or strands of; plait: to braid the hair. (des tresses)
3 Pigtails= a pair of two braids or ponytails on opposite sides of the head (des couettes)
4 Sideburns= the projections of the hairline forming a border on the face in front of each ear (des pattes)
5 Goatee=a man's beard trimmed to a tuft or point on the chin. (un bouc)
6 Ponytail= a hairstyle in which the hair is pulled tightly into a band or ribbon at the back of the head into a loose hanging fall (une queue de cheval) B) Clothes
7 Tights/Pantyhose = a skin-tight, one-piece garment for the lower part of the body and the legs (des collants)
8 Flip Flops= a flat, backless rubber sandal, usually secured on the foot by a thong between the first two toes, as for use at a beach, swimming pool, etc (des tongs)
9 Bathrobe= a loose-fitting garment of toweling for wear before or after a bath or swimming (un peignoir)
10 Bathing Suit= a garment worn for swimming. (un maillot de bain)
11 Overalls= loose, sturdy trousers, usually with a bib or biblike piece to which shoulder straps are attached (une salopette)
12 Hoodie=a hooded sweatshirt (un sweat à capuche)
13 Goggles=protective glasses set in a flexible frame that fits snugly against the face, used for swimming, skiing, etc(des lunettes de plongée, ou des lunettes de ski)
14 Slippers= a light shoe of some soft material, for wearing around the house (des pantoufles)
15 Wig= an artificial covering of hair (une perruque)
16 Blouse= a woman's shirtlike garment (un chemisier)
17 Turtleneck= a sweater with such a collar. (un col roulé)
18 Garter= a band, usually of elastic, worn round the arm or leg to hold up a shirtsleeve, sock, or stocking (une jarretière)
