Who are we
Who am I? When you come to think about it, I might just be an average student studying at university. Among those other students there is nothing special about me. All of us go to the same lessons, we have a similar social background and we pretty much share the same ideas. Despite those similarities each of us is different. Those differences can be explained by our past, our memories. How come I am this person today? Which memories do I use to be the human being that I am?
To begin with I believe that it would be interesting to start with a short biography of myself. I was raised in Paris in a conservative family. Until the age of 16 I went to a private school and then decided to study abroad. I left France for England where I spend two years. This is the moment in my life where a rupture occurred. When I describe who I am I often refer to those two years spend in this English boarding school. This is the period where my personality and behavior completely changed. I discovered an entire new social environment from the one I was raised in. Why do I use these memories? This is actually a good question. I do not really know but probably these are the two years that changed my personality and my entire future.
My family memories also contribute to justify my behavior. Being the oldest of four children, I was asked relatively soon to take responsibility for my brothers behavior. I was supposed to set a good example to show them the right path to follow. I was also raised in a strict catholic environment in the middle of Paris which also marked me. After I left home I realized how different and more complex the “real “world was. Those memories are the ones I use to define myself as part of my life. I spend 16 years of my life living with my family so I strongly believe that most of my behavior and actions are partly due to my education.
