A tournament is a type of competition. Each team plays against team after another to decide who are who the champions, that is, are the victorious team. A tournament consists of several of several rounds. It starts with the opening round and goes on to quarter-finals, semi-finals, and then the finals. After playing in one round of a tournament, the winning team or teams go through to the next round and the losers are eliminated. The country where a tournament is held is the host country and it hosts the tournament. Not all matches are part of a competition; teams also play friendly matches.
