The first advertisement stages a pregnant nun with the message “Immaculately conceived…Ice cream is your religion”. The second advertisement stages two priests near about to kiss with the message “we believe in salivation”. And the third advertisement stages a nun and a priest about to kiss with the message “kiss temptation”.
That is to say Britain’s advertisement watchdog has given the order to stop the publication of this advertisement in Britain. All the more so since the pope Benedict XVI is on an official visit in Britain.
Moreover, after the publication of this advertisement in several magazines such as Grazia, Look, or The Lady, the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) received complaints from magazine readers who were shocked by this advertisement because magazine readers find these advertisements immoral and offensive to the Catholics.
That is to say, the magazine The Lady apologized to their readers and said that it would not make the same mistakes again in the future.
Thus, this article shows the controversy that an advertisement can create as well as all polemics that it can lead to. Nevertheless Antonio Federici will continue to make this type of advertisement (controversial advertisements) because it is the best means to be famous.
