So! Christian Audigier was born on 1958 in Avignon and we can say he has always worked into the world of fashion! When he was fourteen year old he began by working in a clothes store; however he was just in charge of cleaning because he was too young. But this autodidact = self-made man didn't wait long, hardly sixteen year old he had already designed for Alexander McQueen, Luciano Benetton, Elio Fiorucci... Then, he set up his own business and become more and more successful as he designed for several well-known brands: Naf-Naf, Kookaï, Levi's, Liberto... He even worked with Paul Guerz, the father of David Charvey.
In 1990, Christian Audigier decided to go to the United States, there, he's offered the opportunity which made him famous: he's been proposed to rise Von Dutch brand. With Tonny Sorensen's help, he succeeded in turning the brand into one of the clothing references of celebrities. Besides, Christian Audigier's way of proceeding is to single out marketing, that's why many customers of his brands are celebrities as Madonna, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Puff Daddy and many others... He even had to dress Mickael Jackson for his new tour! The fact well-known people wear his clothes permitted him to profit from a huge promotion, not to say the better in Los Angeles! Christian Audigier said himself that he had to run after celebrities before being one of them; it is part of his strategy as he sells more than clothes, he sells what he calls «a life style».
Nevertheless, Christian Audigier went further in his carrieer. After he relaunched Von Dutch, in 2004 he decided to create his own brand. In fact, he's been inspired by the drawings of the famous tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy who belongs to a high gothic style = un style gothic flamboyant with skulls, tigers, dragons etc., so that Christian Audigier chose his name for his new brand.
