Today, Nov 17, 2008, Microsoft announced the commercial availability of the Business Productivity Online Suite, part of the Microsoft Online Services offerings. The launch includes an event hosted by Stephen Elop in San Francisco featuring select partners and customers.
Microsoft is delivering on the software-plus-services strategy
After a brief beta period, Exchange Online and SharePoint Online are now available for business of all sizes to purchase in the U.S. Today we’re announcing plans to offer new solutions as a part of Microsoft Online Services in the next year: o Microsoft Office Communications Online is on track to go beta in the first quarter of 2009 o Microsoft will offer a new Microsoft Online Services solution that will provide security and infrastructure management for businesses, enabling IT managers to secure and manage desktops using a Web-based subscription service
A growing number of customers large and small are choosing Microsoft’s software-plus-services approach and offerings.
To date, Microsoft has sold more than 20 Million Microsoft Online Services seats. New customers include Philips, Universal Music Group State of Colorado, Pitney Bowes and CG Healthcare Solutions, LLC.
Microsoft partners are embracing Microsoft Online Services, realizing a wide range of revenue opportunity.
More than 1,500 partners have enrolled in Microsoft Partner Program for Online Services since July, 2008 – a rate of 100 partners a week.
