The first impressions this passage give us is the beginning of a kinship between Pi and Richard parker.This is explainable because their destinies are linked.Since the sinking Pi had always called richard parker with he , like a stranger and han't car about him but only about him self.Until the beginning of this passage he treated him like an ennemy. But when Richard Parker had made his “prusten” t o exprim his affection to him ,he realised that he was not alone there : we can notice this turnaroud thanks to the using of “and” instead of “or” to associate himself with Richard Parker.moreover he also used many time the first person plural “we” (line 18,19) instead of “I” so we can conclude that the association is done .Pi may have admited in somehow that their destiny are linked ,they”were literraly an figuratively,in the same boat.[they]would live-or [they]would die-together”(line 19).
We notice that it is a real afinnity that had been built between both : Richard Parker gived him a prusten , “the quietest of tiger calls”(line7) ,to express “friendliness [...]intentions”(line8) ;whereas Pi avowed his affection to richard parker , he also qualified the eventualities that R.D could be killed such as “sorry business”(line26) it shows that he wants to take care of R.D.
Pi and Richard Parker's destinies are linked but if they decide to become friend and close ranks it was because together “survival [is] at hand”(line 52).
After rain fall Pi was exhausted it's richard parker that gift him “the will to survive”(line32).
Richard Parker is a survival symbol.he is a bengal tiger and as all tiger he is orange ,wich is the colour of the survival .Moreover Pi tells us That thi sort of tiger can fit and survive in any place even the most dengerous like :in”freezing”,in”sparse,semi-arid scrublands”,and”brackish mangrove swamps”.
