Corporate social reponsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whereby companies commit to improve their social, environmental and economic performance beyond the statutory obligation to comply with legislation. This concept is born in 1970 in the United States.
The goal of CSR is to take interest of all the actors in the company into account that are environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. Stakeholders are those who have an impact on an organization’s activities.
CSR exists in order to help companies’ missions as well as a guide to what the company represents and will decide to its consumers.
CSR is today an essential theme, that’s why I am going to explain more the CSR’s objectives and give some examples.

First of all we can say that the CSR main objective is that persons in charge and their companies pay attention to: * Social and environmental aspects * Different stakeholders concerns * For the long-term
All these criterions have a directly link with the sustainably development. Indeed, the company is going to work to protect the planet, to be concern about the social equality and this in order to economic profitability. It implies a cultural change because the company is not just focus on the company and results. Others actors have to be taken into account like we said.
Every company is concerned, no matter the size but it is more common in big companies. Indeed, big companies are concerned it would be an advantage for their image and for the intern communication quality. That’s why many big companies have spent a lot of money for responsible steps. The SME are more and more interested in CSR but many of them miss time, experience and money so its don’t really considerate the CSR as a strategy.
In general, a CRS step needs tangible and intangible investments. But, the return of investment could be profitable for companies and principally for SME.
