Ce document est une image en noir et blanc montrant une cérémonie de remise de médaille aux jeux olympiques d’été 1968 aux USA. Au premier plan, nous pouvons observer deux personnes entrain de filmer la scène, ce sont surement des journalistes. Au second plan, nous avons la présence de trois personnes se tenant debout sur un podium et chantant l’hymne national Américain. Il y a également deux personnes se tenant devant, on pourrait penser que ce sont les personnes qui ont remit les médailles à ceux qui sont sur le podium.
Sur le podium, on peut remarquer qu’il y a trois athlètes, un athlète Américain sur la place de numéro deux et deux athlètes noir Américain sur la première et troisième place appelé Tommie Smith et John Carlos.
On constate que ces deux personnes sont munies de gants et porte une veste avec les manches retroussées. Ils ont également tous les deux le bras levé et le poing vers le haut.
On peut penser que ces personnes font un salut ou sensibilise les gens à faire quelque chose, mais en réalité ce mouvement qui fut connu lors de ces jeux olympiques est le « Black Power »
