The United States of America : the country of rights and freedom?

I-The American dream : Freedom and rights for value

→ In 1776, the declaration of independence advocated freedom, the right to life, to pursuit happiness, and the equality between humans in America. We can see it in the picture, where there is the Statue of Liberty, symbol of America and freedom. Beside her, there is the justice allegory, with her eyes blindfolded , symbol of equality for everybody in front of the justice.
→ Moreover, those two symbols of a good America, a country of rights and freedom, are sitting behind Rosa Parks, a black woman, as if they were watching over her. This is showing us that America provides the same life, the same rights to blacks than whites.
→ The first sentence of the text “I knew that I could vote and that wasn't a privilege; it was my right” illustrates this, as it's a black man who utters it. More, he says twice that he know he can live where he he want to live (first §)

II- Are these principles applied?

→ If we trust the picture, the liberty, the rights and the same justice for all are apply for black people, but the document was drawn after 2005, as we can see here. So, it's recent, and it was different during the 19th century, where the segregation of blacks was very hard.
→ In the text, the author says that blacks were obliged to fight against whites to have the same rights. Government had to write bills to protect black, it's paradoxical because it would not have required this bills, it would have been normal because equality of humans is written in the declaration of independence of America. → Carmichael says that “black people cut themselves every night in the ghetto”, so it shows that there was a segregation, that they couldn't live where they wanted. Moreover, black people couldn't vote without being persecuted, and defend themselves without being accused of violence.

III- The claims of black people → Rosa Parks, who
