The story revolves around students from private schools in the North-Eastern district of Manhattan in New York, Constance Billard for the girls and St. Jude for the boys, They are all addicted to the blog of "Gossip Girl", that reveals all latest gossip on their very close community. But nobody knows the identity of the mysterious "Gossip Girl."

The series begins with the arrival of Serena van der Woodsen, a beautiful young girl, social and a bit naive (played by Blake Lively), who returns to Manhattan and finding her best friend, Blair Waldorf, another girl, arrogant, manipulative although she’s a good person (played by Leighton Meester). She was as surprised as anyone to see that Serena is back among them, and that Serena has ended her exile in a pension.
