Introduction

We chose H-D as a project because we knew that The H-D Museum stands for an important part of Wisconsin. Moreover we both like engines and motorcycles. And we knew that H-D was a big brand, a cult, aphenomenon. That’s why we were so interested in it.

For 100 years, the burning legend of H-D has been fanned by the winds of change and fueled by an American spirit of freedom, individualism, and the quest for adventure. (Jack Supple 100 years of HD Advertising.)

What William A.Davidson, Walter Davidson Sr., ArthurDavidson, and William S. Harley ( the four creators of H-D) put together in the little work shed behind the Davidson house on Highland Boulevard in Milwaukee was more than a machine. It was the beginning of a way of life…

In the first part we will study the H-D history. This part will include the history from 1903 until now, the motorcycles, the engines and the corporate culture. In the second partwe will discuss t the business. This part will talk about the H-D dealerships, the economic outlook, the current events, the associations and the crisis. The third part will deal with the personal section which will be composed of the survey, the interview and our personal vision about what we study.
