Imagine by john lennon
Cours proposé par I. Deschamps.
Imagine there's no heaven (1st verse)
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today... Imagine there's no countries (2nd verse) It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer ( Chorus )
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions (3rd verse)
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say I'm a dreamer (Chorus) But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one

INTRODUCTION
Imagine was John Lennon 's second major release apart from the Beatles. It was released in 1971, it has remained Lennon's most commercially successful album. We can say the lyrics of the song are very simple : even too simple because they are meant this way : to be understood by all those who speak even a little English, to be understood by the MASSES → a message to the Masses : « Give peace a chance » a reference to another of Lennon's songs. The ideas are simple : epicurians / utopists → dreams : The young have not only the RIGHT but also the DUTY to dream.
