The tribe Shoshoni is situated in the West of United States. It divided in two major, western groups and of the North.

The education ofthe children was particular because only the mother took care of children until they begin walking, then it was the elder sisters who took over,the grandmother prodiguant the education.
Much later, the father took care the education if it was one of boys. If the child was a girl, itwas considered as a blessing because parents knew that one day she would attract a man who would help the family in its quest of food.
As thefood was sometimes rare, certain shamans had the power to attract antelopes, their only big game. They used bows and arrows, lances and shieldsto hunting. They also tried to hunting the bison. When they had succeeded to kill a big game, they exchanged it for the food, the knives andrifles. They also made harpoons for to go fishing.
In summer, they wore only strings, in winter they got dressed of clothes braided withrabbit’s skins. Approximately 40 rabbits were needed to make a garment. Someone who could protect his body with such a garment was considered asfortunate.
And finally, the dance of the spirits, had for purpose not to give in to the white man’s domination and to make they disappear.
TheShoshones people even fights, in the moment ,to protect their sacred sites threatened by the development of tourist or industrial complexes.
