Ensuite, décrire la manière dont vous allez étudier le texte. Ca dépend, bien sûr, du genre du passage :

narrative technique, the point of view
style
setting; the building up of atmospheredramatic intensity
the art of suspense
the incident (event, adventure) which is narrated (related) in the text as a crucial experience
characterization : the art of character-drawing; psychological interest
the main theme
aspects of the comic (humour, irony, …)
tragic elements
argumentative texts : the passage as a social document, social criticism

Dans certains cas, vous devrezdiscuter l'opinion de l'écrivain : is it new, provocative, stimulating, challenging, partial, paradoxical ?

Vous pouvez introduire les différents points de cette manière :

As a starting-point we shall examine … then …
We will first considere the way in which X treats …
Having introduced the notion of … I shall discuss …
We shall focus attention on … which is of primary importance in our passageand show how the idea(s) (theme(s)) are developed.
We shall ask ourselves what sort of general impression the writer wants to convey, and see how he manages to create that impression.
