NEW YORK CITY : An unique and self contained world
New York City is the largest city in the United States, with its metropolitan area ranking among the largest urban areas in the world. Located on the country's east coast in New York State, it was founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1625, and has been the largest city in the United States since 1790. It also served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790. Located on one of the world's natural harbors, New York is one of the world's major centers of commerce and finance. New York also exerts global influence in media, education, entertainment, arts, fashion and advertising. The city is a major center for international affairs, hosting the headquarters of the United Nations. Everybody knows things about the city of New York, the Statue of Liberty, skyscrapers, magnificent shops of 5th Avenue and Broadway theaters on. It is the cultural capital of the United States and also the largest and most populous city of the country. There were millions of immigrants in many years. Everybody wants to live the American Dream and the Melting Pot. In France also lots of immigrants wanted to have a better life by coming here. But can we say that the American “Melting Pot” looks like the French “Integration”? We will see how NYC became an international city thanks to some great places and immigrants of all over the world. Then, as a conclusion, we will see why they often oppose France and the United States in terms of integration.
