Scarface is a 1983 American epic crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma, written by Oliver Stone, produced by Martin Bregman and starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana, the princial character . Based on Howard Hawks' original 1932 film of the same name, the film tells the story of a fictional Cuban refugee who comes toMiami in 1980 as a result of the Mariel Boatlift. Montana becomes a gangsteragainst the backdrop of the 1980s cocaine boom. The film chronicles his rise to the top of Miami's criminal underworld and subsequent downfall in tragic Greek fashion. The film is dedicated to Howard Hawks and Ben Hecht, who were the director and screenwriter respectively of the original 1932 film. Tony Montana , a violent and ambitious Cuban refugee, arrives in Miami, Florida during the 1980 Mariel Boatlift. He and his best friend, Manny Ribera , are sent to a refugee camp. Manny is combined with a kingpin in Miami, which offersthem a U.S. green card in return for the assassination of a former Cuban government official. Once the deal is complete, they agree to carry out a job for Frank's henchman Omar Suarez , buying cocaine from Colombian dealers, the deals goes bad , but they escaped with the cocaine and the money . Frank likes Tony's style and hires Tony and Manny to work for him. At Babylon Club nightclub where the boss goes all the time Tony falls in love with Elvira,the wife of his boss, but she rejects him, but he does not lose hope.
A few months later, Tony visits his family. Gina, her little sister is excited to see him again but his criminal life disgusts his mother who rejects him money .
