6- Because it’s the central point of the story. This phrase caused suspense in the storytelling and also because of what happened, the main characters almost missed the boat.
7- a) When he first heard this story, the narrator was astonished and a bit confused because he couldn’t understand how they could have missed the boat because of “girls’ long hair”. So he “asked the question because [he] was genuinely perplexed”
b) Then, he understood that this phrase was just a trick to make him ask the question to his grandfather. So, “later on, [he] asked it simply because [he] knew he wanted me to” (l. 21-22).

Mais, de toutes les histoires, les meilleures étaient naturellement celles du père de ma mère, puisqu’après tout, il était le seul de ma famille à avoir participé à ce voyage mémorable vers l’Amérique et à être suffisamment âgé à l’époque pour se souvenir de quelque chose. Comment s’est passé le voyage vers l’Amérique, c’est ça que tu veux savoir ?, répétait mon grand-père, en gloussant doucement, quand je lui demandais de me raconter sa vie.

Pour le contenu, il s’agit d’un sujet d’imagination mais il est nécessaire de se servir des éléments fournis par le texte pour, soit faire dire à la tante Sylvia que tout ce que raconte le grand-père du narrateur est vrai mais en ajoutant quelques éléments faisant apparaitre le point de vue e la tante, soit lui faire dire que le grand-père du narrateur exagère
