L’Amérique est un continent de l'hémisphère ouest de la Terre. Elle s'étend depuis l'océan Arctique au nord jusqu'au cap Horn dans le passage de Drake au sud, à la confluence des océans Atlantique et Pacifique qui la délimitent à l'est et à l'ouest, respectivement. Avec une superficie de plus de 42 millions de km², c'est le deuxième continent de la planète, couvrant 8,3 % de la superficie totale et 30,2 % des terres émergées. De plus, il concentre environ 12 % de la population humaine avec plus de 900 millions de personne.

America is a continent of the western hemisphere of the Earth. It extends from the Arctic Ocean, in the North, to the Cape Horn, which is situated in the passage of drake in the South and to be more precise: in the confluence of the Atlantic Oceans and the Pacific which bounds it in the East and on the West, respectively.

With a surface of more than 42 million km², it is the second largest continent of the planet Earth, covering 8, 3 % of the total surface and 30, 2 % of the emerged lands.

Furthermore, it concentrates approximately 12 % of the human population with more than 900 million persons.
