The pogues
I Met my love, by the gas yard wall
Dreamed a dream, by the old canal
Kissed my girl, by the factory wall
Dirty old town, dirty old town
Heard a siren from the dock saw a train cut the night on fire smelled the breeze on the smokey wind dirty old town, dirty old town
I'm going to make a big sharp ax shining steel tempered in the fire
I'll cut you down like an old dead tree dirty old town, dirty old town
Clouds are drifting on the street
Cats are prowling on their beats
Springs a girl on the streets at night dirty old town, dirty old town
I Met my love, by the gas yard wall
Dreamed a dream, by the old canal
Kissed my girl, by the factory wall
Dirty old town, dirty old town
The Pogues was an Irish group of rock folk song of the 1980s and 1990. The group was specialized in the Irish folk music, (see Celtic music) often played with the energy of the scene(stage) punk rock, where from some of the members of the group were native.
Their music, unique(only), tinged with politics(policy) was partially inspired by The Clash, with whom they had played (Joe Strummer had produced one of their albums). Pogues used(employed) Irish traditional instruments such as the flageolet, the banjo, the mandolin, the accordion, and many others. In other embodiments of the group, after Shane MacGowan's departure, electronic instruments such as the electric guitar became more common(current).
