The characters:
They are two characters who are Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth.

Situation:
Duncan is now dead. The king of Scotland is dead however Macbeth and his wife are still not satisfied as we can see through line 5 “where our desire is got without content”. Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are not fully satisfied because his mind his on Banquo. Banquo and Fleance are still in life. They are an hindrance.

This extract can be divides into two parts:
First part from line 4 to line 26: it’s their unsatisfaction
And the second part from line 27 to line 56: they are trying to cheer themselves out.
L27-28”come ….” sa sert a quoi?

Meaning :
This passage is built on an identical approach of the situation both by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. They fell the same. Firstly they feel unsatisfied and secondly they try to cheer themselves out. But we also feel that they do not share the same thoughts. For example Macbeth doesn’t tell his wife everything he knows. He is asking his wife to act pleasantly with Banquo but he sent somebody to kill him.his language is forked. L30 “……..”

In act I scene 5 their conversation had closed on “leave all the rest to me”. Now it is Macbeth to do it “go with me”. He is in charge.
The theme of sleep preveys the whole play. It reappears in the shape of death because death means eternal sleep. Macbeth invoques the same powers of witchcraft and darkness which he had in act I, scene 1 “…..” Many animals which are all associated which dark forces “bat, snake, crow, scorpions, the beetle.” We have a lexical network of animal associated to darkness.

Analysis of verse and style:

To conclude, act I, scene 1 is the turning point of the play in the sense that Macbeth detached himself of the influence of his wife. He knows pursues his own course.
Also the witches prophecy announcing that he will be king is know fulfilled however his mind is not
