In the United States of America, thirty-two percent of hives have been lost and if we don’t do something, half of them will disappear this year.
France is also affected. For example, in 2008 nearly alls the bees of the Haut-Rhin Department were decimated.
Essential to the pollinization of the flowers, the bees constitute a very important link of the chain which contributes to maintain the balance of the ecosystems.
They play a central role in the various phases of the life of many plant and animal species.
For example, one third of human food is made from fruits and vegetables which are pollenized by bees.
If bees disappeared, multitudes of plants could not reproduce any more and would die.
Their absence will generate the loss of many animal species and so it will have a consequence on human’s life because it will be difficult to find food.
For me, it’s the frequent use of pesticides which is the main cause of this disaster.
Some researchers have found some pesticides in bee carcasses and in the pollen.
The bees also suffer from the degradation of their environment, and more particularly from t he reduction in the biodiversity related to the intensive agriculture.
But the worst is never certain. We can find solutions to save our bees. - One possibility consists in encouraging organic agriculture because they don’t use pesticides as in intensive agriculture.
- We can also organize meetings to raise awareness about the importance of the bees in Nature and so, people can make pressure on politics to modify legislation on the use of pesticides.
It’s a very important cause and we hope you will join us: Saving bees is saving Humanity
