Bill
Bill Richardson is the current governor of New Mexico. He was involved in several diplomatic as US Ambassador to the United Nations. He emphasized foreign policy issues during his presidential run. Moreover, he has been recognized for negotiating the release of many hostages in North Korea, Cuba and Iraq.
Regarding this interview, Bill Richardson is dealing with the different aspects of Obama’s campaign, especially in New Mexico. He tries to give him some advices to be successful in Mexico and to conquer more voters.
In the interview, we can quote three main issues, with different tactics.
First of all, Obama has to take care about education, health care, ending the war in Iraq, and protecting the environnement, with new policies. Those issues are local issues; issues which are very important in a country. Then, he speaks about national issues, and especially, the economy wages, high unemployment, immigration and civil rights.
To him, Obama has got three tactics.
First of all, he has to visit the voters a lot, and spend resources.
Then, he has to focus on the Hispanic media, on three important states: New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado, which have one thing in common: a large proportion of Hispanic voters.
Finally, Obama has to be very close from his voters. In fact, all the votes are very important. In this interview, a comparison is done with John Kerry, who lost by 1%.
Obama should extend more over the states of South, more Spanish-speaking to have a better opportunity, due to the size of the population.
I think Obama’s strategy is interesting. Actually, as we saw with John Kerry who lost by 1%, those elections are going to be very close. Obama seems to be very close from his voters and from the people with his campaigns, his debates
