Intro :
Nowadays, globalization is at the heart of the debates. Indeed, it enables easier exchanges between the different countries of the world. And it’s certainly a positive aspect. However, aren’t there also harmful effects?
Taking the example of culture, we’ll deal with the influences, either good or not, of globalization on it, and then, we’ll show that singular cultures still try to defend themselves.

We’ve said that globalization make the exchanges easier between the countries, so flews of people have also increased a lot over the last fifty years. Those immigrants always bring part of their culture to the place they immigrate to, and therefore erich the other culture they find. The same counts for music: the more immigrants bring the sound of their mother country to another place, the more music can mix and create new fusion sounds that haven’t existed before.
Moreover, band members are no longer only from one city or one country : they are a group of people from all over the world, who create a sound mixture from all over the world, which works in concert hall and on dance floors all over the world.
Actually, through globalization, not only borders and frontiers between countries blur : in music, separation between styles fade too. For example, traditionnal styles from Eastern Europe, Latin America or India are mixed with club sounds such as House or Techno. In Spain, Manu Chao create a mixture of traditional Hispanic styles, such as Rumba and Flamenco in combination with Hip Hop, Punk, Reggae.

So the association of specific music with a certain place disappear as well.

Another example is the fact that more and more artists from different countries, and associated with different kind of music, sing together.
