Introduction English is an international language which rose with Julius Caesar and thanks to the movement of British through out the world, it spreads. In our report we are going to talk about the spread of English, the use of English and the way it threatens other languages.
I- THE SPREAD OF ENGLISH
Four (04) hundred years since his first appearance with Julius Caesar, the contrast is extraordinary. Indeed, since 1600 until nowadays, in armies, navies, companies and expeditions, the speakers of English including Scots, Irish, welsh, American and more travelled into every corner of the globe, carrying their languages and culture with them. Today, English is used by at least 750 million people, and barely half of those speak it as a mother tongue. Some estimates have put that figure closer to one (01) billion. Whatever the total, English at the end of the twentieth century is more widely scattered, more widely spoken and written, that any other language has ever been. It has become the language of the planet to first truly language.
