Essay : Does George have the right to kill Lennie ?

This short novel is about two friends: quick-wittet George and simple-minded Lennie. They are both ranch-hands moving together from ranch to ranch and looking for work. They have a dream about a little place of their own and they have each other. This is what keeps them going in a hard life.In the end of the book Lennie is being searched for and will be killed when he is found. George has three choices. He could run away with Lennie, not do anything and let the others kill Lennie, or kill Lennie himself. He chose to kill his best-friend, Lennie, himself, and he made the right decision.

D'une part, dans le monde où nous vivons personne n'a le droit de tuer quelqu'un d'autre, c'est un acte punit par la justice. En plus, ici, George est très proche de Lennie c'est quasiment son frère, c'est un choix difficile qu'il a dut faire et très difficile à assumer au plus profond de lui, car la peine la plus grave après cet acte n'est pas la peine de justice mais la peine intèrieure et la conscience qui nous hante sur ce sujet.
D'une autre part, comme je l'ai dis précédemment Georges est confronté à un dilemme. En conséquence, son choix est justifié car il sait très bien que s'il ne tue pas Lennie tout de suite, le fermier l'attrapera et le torturera. Pour ma part, je ne penses pas que j'aurais pu réaliser cela mais je suis très admiratif de cette acte qui a permit à Lennie de connaître une vie heureuse et sans souffrance avec un amie qui a sut le garder jusqu'au bout et qui en quelque sorte la délivré.
