Rising a child

Nowadays, taking care of a child is harder than ever. Parents are working all days, and they don’t have much time for their child’s. They also have to teach them good manners, as their own parents taught them when they were kid. There are many ways for parents to bring their kids into understanding what’s wrong or not, and some of them find that spanking is a great way to teach them and are encouraging it. However, this method should not be used to raise a child

Most of Americans agreed with spanking and in fact, according to ABC News poll, 65% of them approve of spanking children while 31% don’t. In defence of it, parents who are spanking kids remark they were themselves spanked children and turned out well. Indeed, Murray Strauss studied on corporal punishment’s effects, which are not that good, unlike some think. He found out that spanking increase anti-social comportment such as lying, cheating, disobedience, and bullying. It also decreases children’s IQs as well as risk of sexual problems later on. Other researchers also found spanking responsible for greater depression and alienation. Also, children’s who were spanked tend to hold less desirable jobs and lower benefits.

Furthermore, while spanking is permitted, laws do not allow physical abuse. Sadly, thousands of parents start with spanking and progressively turns it into abuse, every year. Do we want our child’s to respect us or to fear us. Parents want their kids to understand the meaning of good behaviours and these things. Spanking only means for them, next time you don’t follow a certain order, then a spanking is waiting you. They won’t learn anything about it, but simply if next time they do something wrong, they’ll get a spanking, which is pointless if the kid is unconscious of is mistake but only the punishment. We also want our kids to trust us, while speaking is a better way to gain their trust. It can also mind the child that hurting is a good thing.
