Lance Armstrong, de son vrai nom Lance Edward Gunderson, est né le 18 septembre 1971. Lance Armstrong naît à Plano, petite ville proche de Dallas au Texas. Son père quitte la maison familiale alors qu'il a deux ans . Lance Armstrong a eu une enfance difficile. Il utilisa le sport comme moyen pour se défaire de cette violence et pour s'éloigner de sa famille. Champion du monde sur route en 1993. Surnommé « le boss », il est surtout célèbre pour avoir détenu sept titres de vainqueur du Tour de France consécutifs Lance Armstrong est aussi le fondateur de la Lance Armstrong Foundation, aussi appelée Livestrong, qui a pour but de lever des fonds au profit de la recherche contre le cancer et du soutien aux malades. Armstrong a créé cette fondation en 1997 après avoir lui-même guéri d'un cancer aux testicules qui l'avait tenu éloigné de la compétition pendant près de deux ans.Dans une interview avec Oprah Winfrey le 14 janvier 2013, Armstrong a admis avoir consommé des produits dopants au cours de sa carrière de cycliste.
