Marriage
People who can't see this either don't understand what makes a good marriage, arranged marriages, or are not able to think logically. Which unfortunately, can be seen in the many divorcees who got married for looks, love, etc. Things of no real value on their own. How many times have you fallen out of love? Did you marry everyone that you ever loved? Can you imagine if you did? Are you now stuck with someone that you have nothing in common with?
Arranged marriages (when both are willing parties) can be good because both people are matched by those who know each of them well. When a couple shares similar goals, ideals, religion, etc. they tend to make it.
The only problem with arranged marriages is when young girls are forced to marry against their will. This is cultural, and most Western arranged marriages are of free will. Most Western families who support arranged marriage suggest it, but usually give the daughter/son a choice in the matter. Some children prefer having an arranged marriage.
I wan't in an arranged marriage, but I was set up on a blind date with my husband by a relative. And now I am happily married. So to each their own, I suppose. Do know that *usually*, the potential bride/groom CAN refuse a partner early on if they do not like them. Then the family simply finds someone else.
