A world star was born
Timothy William Burton was born in Burbank, California, USA, on August 25, 1958. He grew up in this town near Los Angeles and he showed keen interest in draw, movie and cartoon from a very early age. While he was 15, he won a local completion with his anti-litter poster. He was in favor of ecology. But he won also a scholarship to learn in California Institute of the Arts, in 1976.
He had his first job when he was 21: animator for the Disney Studios but he leaves it because the Disney Studios released his project: he had made a short film, Frankenweenie declared “too scary for children”.
A rising star
After that, in 1985, Tim made a film, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, who was a box-office hit. It was a big surprise. However, from 1985 to 1988, he didn’t make one film.
