One day, my grandfather told me a story. It was about an ancestor of our family during slavery. My ancestor was captured in Africa and take by force on a boat with lots of other people. When he arrived on the ship, all others stared him but he didn’t know why. He realized that his wasn’t an easy travel. Slave owners withdrew his identity and his clothes to be replaced by ill-fitting and ragged clothes. The ship drove off and the slaves owners threw my ancestor in the ship hold. He was shackled and squeezed in with other slaves. He had to work from sunrise to sunset but he wasn’t allowed to be educated. He was allowed to work inside the slaveholder’s. The quality of life was unbearable. At each stop of the boat, slaves were sold to other things and others replaced. My ancestor thought well to escape, but he saw others tried without success. If they failed he was beaten and tortured. My ancestor was a plan. I never knew the end of the story because it was time for me going to sleep. I just hoped he had managed to escape.
