Nirvana
Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987.
I. Youth of Kurt Cobain
Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20th , 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. His father was of Irish and French descent and his mother was of English ancestry. Cobain had one younger sister named Kimberly. He was born into musical family: the all members of his family played an instrument. His talent as an artist was evident from an early age. He draws many of his favorite characters from films or Disney cartoons like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. He began singing at the age of two and at the age of four Cobain already played the piano. His many aunts and uncles initiated him into music and taught him to play the guitar at a young age.
Cobain's parents divorced when he was eight years old, and his mother noted that his personality changed after this point: he became more withdrawn (retiré).
During his teenage years, KC was very dissipated and rebellious. He was arrested for vandalism for having “tagged” a wall.
He changed families many times: he lived 4 years with his mother before going to live with his father. He finally went to live with his uncle Chuck. He offered Kurt a guitar for his birthday.
At a punk concert, he met his future guitarist, Chris Novoselic. They started a new band which was called “Nirvana”. The band name Nirvana was taken from the Buddhist concept, which Cobain described as "freedom from pain, suffering and the external world".
With Chris, Kurt began to cover the walls and cars of Aberdeen with graffiti, with the now famous tag "God Is Gay", which shocked the public. He had many troubles with the local police.
Kurt lived in a very tiny flat, and worked a number of poorly paid jobs. He stopped his studies just before the BA to focus on his first album Bleach. A couple of months later, the band finally recruited a drummer, Chad Channing who will
