Abstract : STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT AND ITS IMPACT ON THE TUNESIAN ECONOMY
The purpose of this paper is to study successively and briefly three dimensions of the structural adjustment programs (SAP).
The first dimension corresponds to their implementation framework and to the internal factors that led to these pograms . The essential factors that caused the breakdown of the accumulation process, which were maintained over the 1960 - 1985 pre-adjustment period will be assessed. To what extent rnay SAP be seen as a means to the reorganization and to the mastering of the accumulation process ? The answer to this question should stem from the present analysis.
The seoond dimension of this paper is an attempt to establish a balance of the economic results generated by the implementation of SAPs. Two aspects will be examined . First the macro-economic balance is set. Second, and this is, by far, the most important aspects, the investment and growth issue given the new market orientation of the economy will be addressed.
The third dimension will be devoted to the identification of new social dynamic trends within the context of the implementation of SAPs and of the transition to a market economy and integration in the global economy.

Dans cette note nous allons tenter d'examiner brièvement trois dimensions successives qui concernent la question des programmes d'ajustement structurel (P.A.S).
La première dimension est relative au contexte d'application du PAS et aux causes internes qui ont préparé l'avènement de ce programme. Pour cela, il sera procédé à l' examen des causes profondes de l'essoufflement du modèle d'accumulation qui a prévalu au cours de la période 1960 -1985 précédant l'application de ce programme. L'intérêt de cette analyse consiste à savoir dans quelle mesure
