A very short story, hemingway
It begins from the first paragraph. In little words, Hemingway instals the background and the characters of his short story : "Luz", an italian forename, "He", "Padua", on the roof of a building. He implies that they stay alone by separating them in the text of other characters : "He & Luz could hear them below on the balcony". If the narrator seems to be external, he adopts nevertheless the point of view of the man. On one hand because he does not name him, does not identify him, on the other hand because the last sentences are like the description of the scene which this man sees. But he doesn't enter in his mind, so it's called a "dramatic" point of view, which is very objective : he leaves the interpretation of the actions led by the characters to us. It's probably used because of the limited length of the short story, moreover of the "very short story".
The beginning of their love story: The text passes from the first night crossed with Luz to the job of Luz in the hospital during night and their contact as nurse and patient. This violent passage of intimate instant to a professional contact articulates nevertheless around the word " night " which links up both paragraphs. But little by little their love story is known by others. There is from now on an intimacy between the nurse and the patient. During his recovery, he thinks of her in his bed (is it a dream or a reality?)
The man: we learn that he's operated, which explains the fact that he was carried on the roof. He was hurt in war. He is the stereotype of an ordinary soldier. He has no rank. As to the roundness, during the war he seems having values, being loyal. However at the end, it can easily be
