The company W+ faced the recent opening of the electricity market and to face this changement, W+ has decided to revisit its business model.
All the core business activities in Europe are improving and putting in place the organizational aspects of this new business model, the HR activities are still embedded in old traditional activities. As Belgium has been selected to test a new HR organizational model that should be in line with the new business model, W+ Belgium will apply new concepts for HR. W+ has already defined the HR strategy and has put the main roles in place like it is explained in the Consultant report. HR is expected to become one leading practice and must be able to compare with “best in class” ratio in the industry. 2. Determine the scope of the potential HR SSC: a. Which HR activities will you typically consider to be centralized and shared (without processing the data); b. For which activities will you pay specific attention at W+? c. Explain & document your choice. First of all, we will explain for the different HR activity domains, which one will be shared and which not. Regarding the ‘strategy’ domain, it is up to the strategy specialists to find strategic justifications for HR activities, and not the HR specialists. Thus HRM Strategy and HRIS (Human resources information systems) strategy will not be part of the shared service centre. For the ‘recruitment’, only executing/administrative activities should be shared (analysis of the CV’s, interviews, test administration, contract production, etc.).
