הווה פשוט – Present Simple

• מתי משתמשים?

1. כשרוצים לתאר פעולה שחוזרת על עצמה באופן קבוע: I cook dinner every evening

2. כשמתארים עובדה: The sun shines

3. לתיאור תוכניות עתידיות: The new program begins next week

4. לתיאור אירועי ספורט, לסיפורים ולבדיחות: Maradona kicks the ball!!! It's a goal!!!

איות: * משתמשים לגוף שלישי יחיד בלבד *
1. בדרך-כלל מוסיפים s
2. לפעלים שמסתיימים ב- s, ss, sh, ch, x, o יש להוסיף es (fixes, wishes, watches, does)
3. לפעלים שמסתיימים בעיצור + y מורידים את ה-y ומוסיפים ies (try-tries, hurry-hurries)

ביטויי זמן:

הווה מתמשך – Present Progressive • מתי משתמשים?

1. לתיאור פעולה שמתבצעת ממש עכשיו: I am reading a book

2. בשילוב עם ביטוי זמן שמראה המשכיות, לתיאור פעולה מעצבנת או מפריעה, שחוזרת על עצמה : He is always forgetting his jacket
