L’ Assurance Maladie Obligatoire:
From 2000 to 2009, the annual drug market volume has increased dramatically from 177 to 279 million units , this increase represents a cumulative growth of 60%.

In fact, There was a sharp increase in annual growth from 2006 to 2009, a period corresponding to the beginning of the implementation of the AMO Indeed, from 2000 to 2005, the cumulative increase was of 13.9%, while for the following period between 2006 and 2009, the cumulative increase was of 40.6%. the charter concerning the implementation of the code of basic medical coverage for the application of the law 65-00 on AMO, was signed on January 4, 2005 in the presence of Her Majesty King Mohamed VI. the presentation of the contents of the Law 65-00 establishing the mandatory basic health insurance aiming to ensure access to health care was enacted on October 3, 2002 by Dahir No. 1-02-296, RB No. 5058 from 11/ 21/ 2002.

The preamble of the law stresses the major fact that improving the level of population health is an essential component of social development policy and that one of the state’s priorities concerning health is to ensure equality and equity to the population.

The following principles are clearly defined as: (article 1)

•The foundation of health financing on the principles of solidarity and equity.
· The collective support of health spending.
· The generalization of basic medical coverage.
· The prohibition of discrimination due to age, sex, job position, income level or medical history.
Based on these principles, the law establishes a compulsory system of basic medical coverage that should be launched with two components:

• A system of l’assurance maladie obligatoire de base(AMO) based on the principles and techniques of social insurance for the benefit of working people, pensioners and students.
