Greece , also known as Hellas and officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in southeastern Europe. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece, the Ionian Sea to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Greece has the tenth longest coastline in the world at 14,880 km in length, with approximately 1400 islands

In Greece there are 94 percent of greek, 4 percent of Albians and 2 percents of others. The regime is a parliamentary republic. The current President is Karolos Papoulias and the Prime Minister is Giorgos Papandreou. The population is estimated at 11,305,118
A developed country with a high-income economyand a very high Human Development Index (22nd highest in the world as of 2010) .Greece has been a member of what is now the European Union since 1981 and in the eurozone since 2001,[17] member of the NATO since 1952,[18] and the European Space Agency since 2005.[19] It is also a founding member of the United Nations .Athens is the capital and the largest city in the country

II – Geography

Greece consists of a mountainous and peninsular mainland jutting out into the sea at the southern end of the Balkans and in the Peloponnesus peninsula ,
Eighty percent of Greece consists of mountains or hills, making the country one of the most mountainous in Europe. Mount Olympus culminates at Mytikas peak 2,917 m , the highest in the country. Western Greece contains a number of lakes and wetlands and is dominated by the Pindus mountain range. The Pindus reaches a maximum elevation of 2,637 m at Mount. Smolikas and is essentially a prolongation of the Dinaric Alps.

The climate of Greece can be categorised into three types (the Mediterranean, the Alpine and the Temperate) . The Pindus mountain range strongly affects the climate of the country by making
